People blow off steam from their busy days at work by means of different activities, for instance, writing a journal, listening to music, exercising, and the like. Most of the aforementioned activities, I’ve already tried and tested, however, they didn’t work as much for me as they have for other people. I have found the best activity, for me, to de-stress from the hustle and bustle of life: Taking Care of A Pet.
Chewie likes to smell people’s faces.
This is Chewie, short for Chewbacca, a remarkably loyal companion with a very big heart. He’s an 11-month old beagle who likes to eat everything he can in sight. He likes to go for walks, bawl at other people and cats, wait for leftovers, and chew anything that catches his interest. He impatiently waits for me to get home and play with him. He has ruined a number of slippers, shoes, and cords inside the house that it doesn’t bother me anymore.

I was going through a rough time when I got him. I merely wanted to take some things off my mind and focus on something less stressful. Little did I know, taking care of a puppy was similar to getting a newborn – you got to feed them, spend time with them, and give ’em some love. Except, this newborn could immediately run ’round the house and relieve himself anywhere he wanted which increased my responsibility. Nevertheless, Chewie has helped me feel more comfortable to be alone in the house. He has also helped me get home a wee bit earlier than my usual getting-home-schedule. Plus, he is so cute! I mean, who wouldn’t feel better, after a long day at work, when someone this fluffy is waiting for you at home.
He likes to do yoga with me.
In a nutshell, there are different avenues in which we cope with stress but not all of us will have exactly the same ones. We just need to continuously experiment with options to find the best stress-reliever that we can and enjoy every moment we spend doing it so we can get back on track kicking ass in life!
A lucky shot because he hates posing for the camera.
